There are 2 main types of dangerous jellyfish in our local waters. The Box Jellyfish is coastal dwelling and is rarely seen on the reef. They breed in estuaries and live their life on the shoreline away from the reef. The Urikandji Jellyfish is also predominantly a coastal dweller but is occasionally found on the reef. The stinger season in North Queensland is from November to April. Stinger suits are available for hire at $6 per person.

Reef Daytripper is one of the few vessels remaining in Cairns catering for clients who wish to travel to the reef in smaller groups. Reef Daytripper will carry just 20 persons plus crew giving you a much more personal service on-board and while diving or snorkeling. This also makes Reef Daytripper the perfect boat for a private charter as you still have plenty of room at an affordable price. To organise a private charter CLICK HERE. To make a small group booking or individual booking just place a booking request HERE.

The outward and return journeys are approximately just over 2 hours of travel time. We are motor sail and use no more than 60 litres of fuel per day. This means we have the lowest carbon footprint of any charter boat operating off Cairns, and are the most eco-friendly option. This allows us to conduct all briefings at a relaxed pace and gives you time to mingle and relax before commencing the days activities, and enjoy the scenery with a complementary glass of wine as we sail back to Cairns.
-
We aim to return to Cairns between 4:30 – 4:45pm each day
-
All persons travelling aboard Reef Daytripper are subject to $15.00 levies.
24 hours cancellation notice is required for groups of 4 persons or less without charge. For groups exceeding 4 persons, 48 hours notice is required without charge.
For groups of 7+ persons, 7 days cancellation is required. Private Charters entail separate terms and conditions.
Tour & prices are subject to change without notice.
Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Please, read the medical questionnaire for Resort Diving. If you find you have any of the medical conditions listed and you answer yes to any question, a dive medical complying with current Queensland standards should be arranged at the earliest convenience.

We do require guests 65+ to don snorkel vests during our snorkelling sessions. This is a policy we have implemented to make in-water activities as safe and enjoyable as reasonably possible. We conduct guided snorkel tours at our Upolu Reef sites, where our dive team can offer assistance and point out interesting marine life.

In our commitment to the safety of our guests, divers aged 60+ years must have an Australian Standards Dive Medical (AS4005.1) with a physician that confirms they are Fit To Dive. This can be provided by your own GP before you leave for your holiday, but must comply with Australian Standards.
